I Saw It... ;-; (SnK Episode 37 Review)

So I was finally able to see the last episode of our beloved season 2 just yesterday :(

I even took out my special Survey Corps jacket just for this occasion! (you can kind of see it in this post)

Alright, so in this episode we finally get to see the Smiling Titan for the second time. Miraculously this Titan was never killed during the fall of Wall Maria (wtf) AND it just somehow decides to pick on Eren and Mikasa (of all people) in the battlefield. Meanwhile the rest are trying to fight Reiner, who is currently busy throwing Titans, as Historia tries to catch up with her Titan girlfriend.

As the Smiling Titan was just about to get their hands on Eren and Mikasa, Hannes throws himself in the way and proceeds to (finally) get revenge on the thing that killed Carla.

Armin and Jean had originally planned to help them, but unfortunately Jean happened to have a Titan being thrown his way. He wasn't injured (yet) but it did cause them to take a detour and attempt to kill the Titans coming their way.

I especially like this scene because I think it shows how devoted Historia is to Ymir even though she's lied and kept secrets from her. They've been through thick and thin together and, from the looks of it, Historia isn't going to let that go even if the situation is potentially life-threatening for the both of them.

(Aaand it's also the scene where they finally used the "Barricades" song x33)

Now as we remember from one of the last episodes, Mikasa happened to get caught for the first time ever by a Titan and had gotten squeezed to the point where her ribs broke. This renders her helpless when they meet the Smiling Titan, thus making Eren decide to take the initiative and try to transform to take the Titan down.

But sadly, he can't transform.

AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT

On their way through the hoard Jean happens to have yet another Titan being thrown his way, and ends up getting knocked the fuck out.

Wow. Okay, give my horse boy brain damage... That's great 🙄​

 (On a side note, here's the Bae in Distress! Observe as she attempts to stop her friend from eating his hand.)

I'M SORRY IF I SOUND RUDE BUT... HOW??!

It was one Titan. It wasn't even an abnormal, unless you count the fact that it has a big ass creep smile.

Yeah... So now Eren and Mikasa had a traumatic experience for what... the third time?

Just how much more are they going to suffer 😖​

Now Eren's started blaming himself, saying that nothing's changed and that he's not good enough, and I honestly feel like crying ;-;

While I am a little upset that they didn't kiss in the anime, I think it would have been a huge game-changer had Eren not moved out of the way. Not only was Mikasa's kiss an action of confessed feelings, it was also her way of telling him she gave up on life.

(Hey, it's me, your father's ex-wife. High five)

No shit, Mikasa.

Yes, Eren, protect your waifu (Does anyone else notice Mikasa's winged eyeliner is oN POINT)

Again, had Eren decided to just stay put and let Mikasa finish, they would have both accepted their fate and most likely gotten eaten by the Smiling Titan. I think the scene they had here was much better than any kissing scene. Feelings didn't have to be confessed; Eren knows that despite the fact that he's not the best soldier around, he still served some kind of purpose in someone's life. Mikasa on the other hand can go to sleep peacefully knowing that no matter what's being thrown at them Eren will still be by her side.

So now Eren has this special Coordinate power to use against the Titans. Obviously this is the first time it's been activated, but how is the question. This all happened while Eren was making a desperate attempt to save both Mikasa and himself, so... I don't know, tbh. Maybe it can only be used in dire situations? Who knows...

I still can't believe what happened to Ymir in the manga... This sucks, now Historia is all alone. I mean, she still has the rest of the 104th squad with her, but I don't think it'll be the same as it was with Ymir.

This concludes my review!! Sorry I took so long, by the way. Things have been getting pretty busy for me lately (AND my grandparents came over for a couple days so I couldn't finish this sooner.)
