How Twisted (PMMM Episode 5 Review)

I think I get why they call it a Soul Gem now.

You basically trade your soul to this little piece of shit here in exchange for a single limitless wish, thus binding yourself to a lifelong contract promising to protect the Earth.

So Sayaka basically gave herself up in order to make this guy happy... I'm not sure if I like it very much.

I mean, it's sweet that she was selfless enough to use her one wish on someone else despite this guy being a huge asshole to her the other day, but I just keep having this feeling that something will happen to Sayaka. A lot of things about this episode was just so ominous and it freaks me out.

This girl is still planning on taking Sayaka out, but in the middle of her planning Kyubey warns her that there's more than one Magical Girl in the city. However, Kyubey calls this Magical Girl an "irregularity" mainly because she's powerful but he's never exactly made a contract with her.

I've noticed that all Magical Girls wear some kind of emblem on the nail of the finger which they wear their Soul Gem rings on. What do they mean 🤔

In this scene Madoka asks Homura to befriend Sayaka in order to keep her safe, first listing Sayaka's personality traits in order to convince herself that Sayaka could be a great Magical Girl. However, Homura believes that traits such as hot-headedness and being quick to help someone are extremely dangerous in the Magical Girl business. According to her this is why Mami was killed.

Despite how dangerous this could be, Madoka still wants to come patrolling with Sayaka, hoping to turn herself into a Magical Girl in the event where Sayaka can't defend herself. They eventually find a Labyrinth,

and end up fighting this ugly-ass bitch.

But before Sayaka could even make a scratch on the entity, the red-haired chick comes in, chases off the entity and closes the Labyrinth. Turns out the entity was only a Familiar.

So now there's two sides: One wants to kill the familiar in order to protect the Earth while the other wants to let the familiar eat a few people until the last minute so she could get a grief seed.

The latter side compares their viewpoint to the food chain, basically saying that Magical Girls are at the top. This shows a sign of a big ego (those who put themselves on a high pedestal in order to make themselves feel better are considered egotistical).

What I mean is that Magical Girls aren't exactly at the top of the food chain. Mami was a powerful Magical Girl and she got eaten! Then again, she wasn't very fit to be a Magical Girl 🤔

Plus, even if they have a bunch of magical powers coming out their asses doesn't mean they're immortal. Unless of course they wished to be.

Anyway... Given the fact that both girls are hot-heads Sayaka and the red-head get into an argument and start trading blows. Red-head even goes as far as to throw Sayaka against the wall! But Sayaka continues to keep standing, which gets the red-head pissed off and she starts actually trying to pummel her into the ground.

I'm guessing that the Magical Girls who actually survive are just huge assholes.

Madoka, who is watching while being barricaded by chains, desperately wants to help. Kyubey then tells her to make a wish (this guy just doesn't care about anyone).

At the last second before making her wish, Madoka is interrupted when Homura steps in, momentarily stopping the battle.
