I'm Sad... and a Little Confused (PMMM Episode 4 Review)
To have to watch someone you knew for like two days just get murdered by an inter-dimensional caterpillar, only to wake up the next day having to go back to our normal life... it must feel so weird for Madoka. If it were me I'd stay in shock for a couple days because, seriously, that's a little too much for one day. I'm just hoping Madoka knows how much her life should be worth to her after that.
I'm just glad that Kyubey left them alone for now. I most DEFINITELY wouldn't want to become a magical girl after that experience. Besides, there should be other girls in the world who would jump at the chance to be a magical girl. It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be Madoka just because she has a lot of potential. There's seven-billion people on earth, I'm more than 100% positive that there's other girls with about as much if not more potential.
I have the feeling that Homura doesn't like the idea of potentially dying one day without having anyone to remember her. Maybe she doesn't have close family relations either, so the thought of some day dying and just being left forgotten probably hurts for her. However I don't believe that she's alone as she thinks she is. Despite not knowing her for very long, Madoka already made the promise to never forget about Homura nor Mami simply because of the fact that they helped her discover what her worth could be in her life, as well as to cherish it as much as she could.
Anyway, now we're back to Sayaka and her childhood crush, wHOSE ASS I'D REALLY LIKE TO KICK RIGHT NOW
I mean, yeah it might have been a bit insensitive on Sayaka's part to visit him all the time to play classical music, but obviously it wasn't her intention to make him feel bad about his injury.
Also, I don't give two single shits how mad you are, don't take it out on someone who's been trying their best to make you happy even if it wasn't the best kind of way. Why the hell would you even smash the CD?? The CD didn't do anything to you???
Why do animators make stuff like that so exaggerated? You smash a CD and suddenly there's blood squirting out everywhere?? Okay then...
Now due to Sayaka being desperate to help this guy, THERE COMES KYUBEY, THIS SLY LITTLE FUCKER (I really, really don't trust him) and you can practically guess what happens after this, can't you?
Now on a walk in the city Madoka spots her friend Hitomi walking rather sloppily down the road and happens to find that weird patch thing on her neck (I don't know how from so far away, but hey it's anime). Madoka then confronts her, to which Hitomi responds, "I'm going someplace wonderful! You should come with me."
We can all guess what that "wonderful place" is.
Surprise, surprise, Hitomi happens to be going to an abandoned building along with plenty of others who have been possessed by the witch and are convinced their life isn't worth it. I'm thinking that the witch set this up rather perfectly. Huge city, full of potential victims, and an abandoned factory in the middle of nowhere. What could go wrong?
I'm wondering what it is that Hitomi is going through to fall for that trap. It's kind of implied in the beginning that she might be going through something when she starts acting weird and emotional after assuming that Sayaka and Madoka were together. It seems that her family is the kind of rich family that puts a lot of pressure on their kids to excel in everything for the sake of family pride (basically the kind of rich family that's ignorant and egotistical). She either just can't handle the stress and feels that she can't talk to them about it, OR there's something else she's hiding at the moment which she feels she can't necessarily reveal to her friends or parents (such as what I assumed to be that she's contemplating wether she might be a lesbian which I mentioned before in one of my earlier posts).
Either way, if it's stressing to the point to make her want to kill herself, then something's wrong with the way she's being raised.
Inside the building Madoka sees someone pouring two bottles of chemicals into a bucket, to which she has a brief flashback of her mother with the same two bottles, warning her to never mix them together, otherwise everyone in the room would die. She tries to intervene, but Hitomi stops her by saying "This is a sacred ceremony. You can't interrupt."
Me: You make this sound like a satanic ritual, dude. Now it's even creepier than it was before.
Finally, Madoka runs to the bucket, grabbing it and throwing it towards a nearby window. What I'm confused about is how she didn't just drop dead when she was running to throw the bucket since apparently you die as soon as you breathe in the toxic air. Also, how did the chemicals just magically stay inside the bucket while it was being flung???
Now the victims are pissed off about what she did and decide to kill her. She then runs away, locking herself in a closet where she thought she was safe.
But no. Here comes the bitch that started it all showing up in a cloud of smoke. The space then turns into a labyrinth.
From the way it looks, it seems as if Madoka is being tortured in a way where she has to relive her memories of Mami being eaten, most likely because during that moment she felt so helpless and guilty (probably the most she's ever felt). I think witches tend to haunt you with whatever guilt or pain you feel in order to put you under their spell.
HEEERRE'S SAYAKA :D
ALMOST A FULL GODDAMN HOUR LATE
She suddenly pops in, killing the parasite with ease despite that being her first hunt (beginner's luck maybe?)
Now Hitomi and everyone inside the factory are safe, Violin Boy got the feeling in his arm back. But why is the floor glowing blue even though there's no lights on inside the room? Like I said before, I don't trust Kyubey very much so I have a STRONG assumption that there's some kind of catch involved with his wishes besides becoming a magical girl. Hopefully I'll find out soon.
At the end of the episode the audience is introduced to a newcomer who is also a veteran in the magical girl business. It's been said that Magical Girls normally fight each other for the rewards that they receive to the death. Now that Mami is gone Sayaka kind of now has ownership of the city since Homura hasn't exactly claimed it yet. Apparently that city was kind of like a gold mine to magical girls, so it makes sense for the red-head to want to take out Sayaka, especially since she's a rookie.
That's all I have for now. Thanks for reading!!
