Why I Believe Kaori's Lie Doesn't Make Her a Bad Person
GUESS WHO'S BIRTHDAY IT IIIS
Not mine! It's actually Kaori's š
So as I browsed on social media, a few times I saw that some people were talking shit about Kaori because of the lie she told.
These people claimed that she used her friends, didn't care about Watari's feelings, and all this other crap and I thought, "Damn, did they not watch the anime?? Do they not understand what she did all that for?"
This girl had basically a year to live! What would you have done in that situation?
Yes, I don't like the fact that she pretended to date Watari so that she could meet and play music with Kousei.
BUT the only person she new in that friend group was Tsubaki since they were in the same class, and Kaori even states in her letter that she assumed that Tsubaki wouldn't have wanted to introduce her to Kousei because she liked him.
Plus, Watari was labeled as a playboy. Easy target.
She knew that if she were to lie and say that she likes Watari, he'd obviously want to date or at least talk to her, which gave her an easy way into their friend circle. She also assumed he'd forget about her later on, which she wasn't very concerned about.
But still, how can you call her heartless?
She knew what she did wrong and even apologized for it in her letter to Kousei. In the end all she wanted was to live her life without any regrets. So if you were in her shoes, wouldn't you have wanted to (at least) tell your crush that you like them?
Yeah, her method wasn't exactly the best. But to her it was the least painful.
