Sayaka's Gone Bat-Shit Crazy (PMMM Episode 7 Review)
Okay, so maybe the whole Soul Gem thing isn't too bad.
Though you're trading your soul for a wish (which is the part I don't like about it), your soul is not exactly being taken from you. It's only being encased inside an unbreakable shell that you still have possession of. You just have to be careful not to lose it or your body will die, which is what happened when Madoka threw Sayaka's gem off the bridge.
I'm also not fond of the fact that Kyubei never told anyone simply because they never asked. Though, depending on how he says it, the girls might have reconsidered had he told them in a way where it sounded terrible, such as the way he put it when Sayaka died the first time.
I don't really like the fact that this anime is kind of teaching you to think selfishly. In this episode Kyoko decides to talk to Sayaka and so she brings her to her father's church and tells Sayaka about her past.
Kyoko had used her wish to give her father some followers since no one would listen to his sermons. Soon he found out about what she did and was so upset that he killed their family and committed suicide by burning down his church with him in it.
This wouldn't happen in real life. If this whole Magical Girl concept actually existed and a girl made the exact same wish, no father would react like that unless he had some serious mental issues.
Welp, anime logic
If you were to actually use a once-in-a-lifetime limitless wish on someone else you'd be sure to get something good in return. But apparently in the Magical Girl world you get the opposite.
And Sayaka's opposite is that she feels she can't be with the person she "loves".
When Kyosuke comes back to school Hitomi confesses to Sayaka that she loves Kyosuke and gives her an ultimatum: She has until the next day to tell Kyosuke she loves him or Hitomi will confess to him.
And later Sayaka tell Madoka that she was regretting saving Hitomi in the first place, which in my opinion is stupid as fuck.
This is all over a boy.
A fucking boy that she apparently knew since childhood, even though to me it seems like she knew him from a distance. She only started actually spending time with him after his accident. And apparently she loves him!
In my opinion you can't necessarily say that you love someone until you've spent the majority of your time with them FOR YEARS. To me this whole thing Sayaka has with Kyosuke is only a crush/infatuation type of thing. Same with Hitomi.
Sayaka starts beating herself up about it soon to the point where she breaks down crying in front of Madoka. At the end of the episode she has a gruesome battle with a witch, and as she's brutally murdering the evil entity she laughs maniacally and claims she can't feel pain anymore.
But if she can't feel the pain, then how did she break down crying earlier? What she was feeling was some form of pain.
I feel that the body they're left with when they make the contract is still in a way human, it's just that their soul isn't there...
Maybe because she's aware of it Sayaka sees herself as nothing more than a body, which eventually drove her to act the way she did when she was fighting the witch at the end.
Speaking of Sayaka, I just added a new Sayaka Miki figure to the store! Link: https://goo.gl/yWBygQ
